Adult Learning Center Student Mentor

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Mentor to join our team at The New York Public Library. As a Student Mentor, you will play a critical role in supporting the success of adult learners in our English Language and Literacy program.
Key Responsibilities- Student Intake and Assessment: Assist in welcoming, orienting, and assessing new students, ensuring accurate data collection and entry.
- Administrative Support: Provide general office duties, including data entry, photocopying, and organizing supplies.
- Program Support: Assist in preparing materials and setting up events for information sessions, including computer, video equipment, and room arrangement.
- Assessment Administration: Administer TABE and BestPlus standardized assessments for language and literacy, after receiving training.
- Student Support: Help students fill out forms, collect data, and complete the Individual Student Record Form (ISRF).
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; students currently enrolled in college preferred.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience working with a culturally diverse adult population, using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom.
- Skills: Ability to give clear instructions, follow directions, work independently and as part of a group, and demonstrate reliability and flexibility.
- Public library setting
- Classroom setting within one of nine Adult Learning Centers or public library space within a branch library setting.
