Lead Transportation Project Manager | Hybrid | Wethersfield, CT

VHB's Wethersfield, CT office is looking for a Lead Transportation Project Manager.

This is a remarkable opportunity to join our vibrant and expanding Transportation Team, contributing to the delivery of roadway and safety initiatives.

This role allows you to spearhead intricate transportation projects while playing a vital part in the growth and development of the team.

We seek an individual with a combination of project leadership skills, technical knowledge, and creative problem-solving abilities. Experience collaborating with state transportation departments is essential, and familiarity with local agencies is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the Lead Project Manager for state and municipal clients

Build and nurture client relationships

Oversee team members and facilitate their technical and professional growth

Contribute to strategies for enhancing transportation services across the state

Track and assess project financial outcomes

Lead discussions with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to identify their requirements and address transportation design and permitting challenges

Formulate and implement project scopes related to transportation design

Engage in professional organizations that foster relationships with clients and partners

Identify new project opportunities and oversee proposal submissions

Manage extensive multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, including traditional and alternative delivery methods

Support the execution and delivery of transportation projects during the construction administration phase

Conduct pre-design project planning and financial oversight

Design highways and roads, including geometric layout, grading, drainage, utility coordination, and environmental permitting

Create technical design and specification documents

Skills and Attributes

In-depth knowledge of highway engineering concepts, practices, and procedures

Thorough understanding of state regulations governing transportation design

Software Proficiency:
MicroStation Open Roads Designer, Civil3D is a plus

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required

A Master's degree is preferred and may substitute for one year of experience

11-15 years of professional experience in transportation engineering, with a minimum of 5 years working with state transportation departments required

15+ years of experience in transportation engineering is preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; CT PE is preferred

Significant professional expertise in progressive highway design projects is required
