Job Overview

As a Specialized Coffee Roasting Expert, you will work in a warehouse environment manufacturing all coffee products after roasting. This includes blending, bagging, boxing, and shipping coffee, requiring endurance and consistency throughout the workday. Team members generally work Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., but hours can vary on lighter or heavier production days.

This role demands physical ability to meet job requirements, punctuality, and resourcefulness. Team members contribute to meetings and goal-setting, build their coffee knowledge and skill sets, and engage in our business. The warehouse has climate control features, but the environment can be hot in summer and cold in winter. You must be able to multitask and perform effectively with frequent distractions in a noisy environment.

The position requires possession of a valid US driver's license. We offer an estimated salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package including group health insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, and a 401(k) program.

Responsibilities
  • Receive green coffee shipments and store them in designated areas of the warehouse.
  • Pull green coffee and load roasters according to established procedures.
  • Roast coffee to order each day, maintaining quality control standards.
  • Log data for roasts produced and document organic purges.
  • Work within the Netsuite structure and understand quality control protocols set forth by the Coffee Department.
  • Perform as an effective and skilled coffee taster, identifying flavor profiles and nuances.
  • Manage roasting byproducts (chaff, burlap, GrainPro) to maximize reuse or recycling.
  • Operate the Optical Sorter and assist with daily sorting of roasted coffee.
  • Learn to operate a forklift safely for loading, unloading pallets from trucks, and racking coffee.
  • Assist in organizing and cleaning roasting and green coffee workspaces, including equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in general warehouse maintenance, sweeping, mopping, washing, and debris removal.
  • Represent the company at industry functions, showcasing expertise and representing our brand.
Requirements
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion are essential aspects of this role.
  • Very heavy work involves exerting over 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently, with continuous activity of 20 pounds or less.
  • You must have close visual acuity for activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing computer terminals, reading extensively, inspecting small defects, operating machines, and assembling parts.
  • The employee is subject to environmental conditions, extreme temperatures, noise, hazards, and handling materials like burlap and green coffee.
