Job Overview

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The primary responsibility is to uphold infection prevention and cleanliness standards within the healthcare facility through adherence to established cleaning protocols.

COLLABORATION

Engages mainly with: management, medical staff, fellow employees, various departments, patients, and visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct routine cleaning of patient rooms, restrooms, non-patient areas, and communal spaces using designated cleaning methods and safety precautions.
  • Accommodate special cleaning requests efficiently and modify schedules as necessary.
  • Execute terminal cleaning procedures for patient rooms to prepare for incoming patients.
  • Utilize industrial-grade cleaning supplies and equipment while adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Operate cleaning machinery such as the Speed Scrub 300 and IMOP machines.
  • Rearrange furniture and items as required to facilitate thorough cleaning.
  • Dispose of waste, biohazard materials, soiled linens, and sharps in accordance with proper protocols.
  • Replace used linens with fresh supplies.
  • Ensure that cleaning supplies are adequately stocked in all areas.
  • Verify the completion of assigned tasks before the end of the shift.
  • Assist in training new staff members.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet departmental goals and uphold infection control standards.
  • Exhibit professionalism and punctuality in all interactions.
  • Address practical challenges, interpret instructions, and respond to various situations effectively.
  • Participate in required meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Equipment and Tools: Proficient in using standard office equipment including computers, telephones, and copiers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes at least one year in environmental services within a healthcare setting.

PERSONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Commitment to quality and patient safety.
  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and email.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage stress, and communicate effectively.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective time management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a courteous demeanor.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties safely.
