Job Summary

The Medical Assistant Scribe role is a vital part of our healthcare team at Rancho Health MSO. As a Medical Assistant Scribe, you will provide exceptional support to our healthcare providers, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record vital signs and measurements, entering patient data into electronic health records.
  • Prepare patients for exams, administer medications and injections as prescribed.
  • Collect and process laboratory samples, placing orders for tests.
  • Communicate with pharmacies, labs, and radiology departments.
  • Manage clinical paperwork, triaging phone calls, and maintaining exam room cleanliness.
  • Assist with clinical paperwork and maintaining workstations.
  • Place orders, complete tasks directed by providers, and cooperate with the care team.
  • Review patient charts, research medical records, and transcribe patient encounters accurately.
  • Document procedures, medications, and care plans as directed.
  • Communicate with the care team for follow-up and coordination of patient care.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A Medical Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from a medical assistant training program is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification/CPR certification preferred.
  • Experience in working with Primary Care, Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Women's Health, Geriatrics a plus.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Preferably: EPIC EMR.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to type 65+ words per minute.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and congenially with patients and staff members in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment when interacting with patients and staff.
  • Ability to record observations and notes completely, accurately, literately, and concisely.
  • Ability to learn and code for Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs).
  • Ability to accept supervision and feedback.
  • Understand HCCs and Medicare.
  • Familiarity with proper procedures for disposing of used supplies.
  • Capable of observing the general physical condition of patients to identify signs of abnormalities.
  • Proficient in recording observations and notes in a complete, accurate, literate, and concise manner.
  • Demonstrate understanding of organizational principles, planning, records management, and general administration practices.
  • Exhibit attributes of dependability, adaptability, and confidentiality.
