Medical Support Specialist

Job Summary:
Virginia Oncology Associates, a leading cancer care and blood disorders organization, is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care and support in a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, including exams and procedures.
- Promote efficient patient flow and patient care, ensuring exams and procedures are completed in a timely manner.
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain necessary patient records for treatment or procedures.
- Schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions, and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
- Arrange for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as required.
- Perform other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or physician.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a multi-physician practice.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Ability to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the profession and industry.
- CMA certification preferred.
