Position Overview
As an IT Specialist within the Department of Labor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the organization's IT assets and configurations. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring optimal performance and compliance across all IT systems.

Key Responsibilities
Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining a precise inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Ensuring adherence to federal regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Monitoring software licenses to guarantee compliance and prevent unauthorized usage.
  • Identifying and evaluating risks associated with IT asset and configuration management.
  • Generating reports and providing insights on asset utilization, compliance, and configuration modifications.
  • Designing, maintaining, and implementing hardware and software configurations for consistent deployment.
  • Collaborating with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex desktop engineering challenges.
  • Developing and implementing standardized image libraries and deployment policies for efficient desktop configuration.
  • Ensuring accurate records are maintained in the system of records (ServiceNow) for Mobile, Asset, Software, and Change Management.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for the IT Specialist position, candidates must meet the Basic Requirements and Specialized Experience criteria outlined below:

Basic Requirements
Applicants must possess IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies:
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrates thoroughness and conscientiousness in work.
  • Customer Service: Engages with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
  • Oral Communication: Effectively conveys information to individuals or groups, considering the audience.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies issues and evaluates information to generate sound recommendations.

Specialized Experience
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service. This experience should include:
  • Applying advanced configuration management principles to develop and implement standardized image libraries and deployment policies.
  • Providing technical expertise and leadership in configuration management to ensure well-documented and regularly updated configurations.
  • Evaluating, designing, and implementing new technologies across the IT services environment.
  • Implementing security controls to mitigate desktop cyber risks in compliance with federal mandates.
