Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Eligibility and Benefit Verification: Verify patient eligibility and benefits for assigned patients, ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims.
  • Copay Log Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date copay logs on our shared drive, ensuring seamless communication with patients and staff.
  • Demographic and Insurance Updates: Update patient demographic and insurance information as necessary, ensuring accurate and compliant billing practices.
  • Financial Responsibility Determination: Determine patient financial responsibility for treatment, providing clear and concise explanations to patients and families.
  • Scheduling and Communication: Schedule phone appointments with assigned patients to discuss financial estimates and patient responsibility, providing empathetic and supportive communication.
  • Financial Resolution and Assistance: Provide options, resources, and assistance to patients in resolving financial responsibility for infusion and oral pharmacy services, including patient assistance, payment plans, and donations.
  • A/R and Collections Research: Research and resolve assigned patient A/R and collections, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of billing discrepancies.
  • Billing Collection Questions: Respond to billing collection questions from patients and staff, providing clear and concise explanations and resolutions.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Accurately detail notes in OncoEMR per note template policy, ensuring accurate and compliant record-keeping practices.
  • Confidentiality and HIPAA Compliance: Maintain a high level of confidentiality for patients in accordance with HIPAA standards, ensuring secure and compliant handling of sensitive patient information.
  • Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Promote and contribute positively to inter-departmental issue resolution, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with staff across departments.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3 years of billing experience in a healthcare organization, with a strong understanding of managed care and capitated contracts.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required, with a college education or vocational training in medical billing preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in computer processing functions and standard office equipment, ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and strong organizational skills.
