Role Summary:

We are in search of a dedicated and versatile Cafeteria Service Associate to become a vital part of our team within educational settings. This position encompasses a variety of tasks, including food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. The ideal candidate will enjoy a schedule that aligns with school hours, promoting a healthy work-life balance for family time in the evenings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meal Preparation & Service: Prepare and serve meals in accordance with established recipes, portion control standards, and food safety regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organization in all food service areas.
  • Customer Engagement: Provide an excellent customer experience by warmly greeting students, staff, and visitors. Address questions regarding menu items, pricing, and payment methods.
  • Cash Handling: Accurately manage the collection of payments for food items and meal plans.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with the receipt, storage, and rotation of food supplies following established protocols. Support inventory tracking efforts.
  • Operational Collaboration: Work alongside the kitchen team to ensure efficient operations and timely meal service. Comply with school district policies and regulations.
  • Food Line Setup: Organize and maintain the food service line, including plates, utensils, food, and beverages.
  • Dishwashing Duties: Perform dishwashing tasks as required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in food service or customer-facing roles is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Physical endurance to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks.
  • Basic math skills and experience with cash handling are essential. Familiarity with cash registers is a plus.
Working Environment:

The Cafeteria Service Associate will primarily operate in a school cafeteria setting, with the flexibility to work early mornings and, occasionally, evenings or weekends for special events. The role involves exposure to hot temperatures, steam, and cleaning agents.
