Job Summary

This position is part of the clinical team at Medical Center SE Texas Port Arthur, responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations in the physician practice. The Medical Assistant must maintain a professional and positive demeanor when interacting with patients and other customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with providers to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families.
  • Room patients and prepare them for provider visits.
  • Take vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, pulse oximetry, weight, height, and respiratory rates.
  • Record patient history, chief complaint, pharmacy information, and prescription lists into the electronic medical record.
  • Obtain required consents and complete necessary forms for specific visit types.
  • Perform in-office testing and EKGs as needed.
  • Assist providers with in-office medical procedures.
  • Properly label specimens and adhere to Medical Center SE Texas Port Arthur policies.
  • Chaperone providers as required.
  • Administer vaccines and medications as ordered by providers.
  • Follow Transitional Care Management, Chronic Care Management, and Remote Patient Monitoring workflows.
  • Stock rooms and monitor expiration dates of exam room supplies.
  • Monitor and log medication/vaccine refrigerator temperatures.
  • Assist with incoming calls and schedule patient appointments.
  • Review schedules to ensure providers have necessary information for patient visits.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Education from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent.
  • One to three years of experience as a medical assistant preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
