Overview
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is actively seeking qualified adjunct faculty to deliver courses within the Political Science Department (POSC). This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position accepted on an ongoing basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.
Position Responsibilities
- Design and facilitate political science courses as designated by the Dean, ensuring high-quality education and training.
- Conduct all class sessions as per the established schedule.
- Provide instructional materials, activities, assignments, and assessments that comprehensively address all student learning objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
- Employ teaching strategies that promote application, collaboration, and engagement. Inspire students to become independent learners with advanced critical thinking skills.
- Structure and present content using methods suitable for students with varying abilities, preparation levels, and cultural backgrounds.
- Participate in all required training and meetings at KCKCC.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on in-class and out-of-class assignments, monitor student progress, and maintain accurate records of student performance.
- Submit mid-term and final grades in a timely manner.
- Conduct thorough assessments and analyses as per college requirements.
- Reflect on and assess the effectiveness of one’s own teaching methods.
- Demonstrate professionalism with faculty, administration, staff, students, and community members.
- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required reports to the appropriate office(s).
- Maintain precise records of student attendance.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the political science discipline's roles and functions.
- Strong grasp of the political system's role within society.
- Thorough understanding of the terminology used in the political science field.
- Ability to arrive punctually and be prepared to teach during scheduled times.
- Capability to create curricular materials that effectively convey learning objectives to students.
- Proficiency in utilizing Blackboard for posting assignments, assessing student performance, and grading.
- Master's or higher degree in Political Science or a Master's degree in a related field with 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in Political Science.
- Experience in a diverse, open enrollment, urban community college setting.
- Four (4) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Familiarity with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard.
- Experience in learner-centered teaching methodologies.
- Experience working in a diverse educational environment.

Work Schedule
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs. Evening and weekend hours may be required. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollments or changes in program and scheduling.
