Job Summary:

The Community Outreach Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing community benefits programs that align with the DOE project requirements. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including community organizations, government agencies, and internal departments, to ensure the successful delivery of the Community Benefits Plan (CBP) commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop community benefit programs that address the needs of the community and align with the DOE project requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, government agencies, employees, workforce representatives, residents, and any other relevant stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for community benefit initiatives.
  • Oversee the implementation of community benefit programs and tasks, ensuring they are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Track and evaluate the impact of community benefit programs and tasks. Use data to inform continuous improvement and report outcomes to stakeholders and the DOE.
  • Develop and disseminate communication materials to promote community benefit programs and engage the community as well as internal stakeholders regarding the Mitchell Decarbonization Project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Health, Social Work, Community Development and Engagement, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience. Candidate must have a broad range of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire.

Work Environment:

Work location is Mitchell plant or Indianapolis office with some potential for hybrid remote as coordinated and approved by supervisor.

Role operates primarily in an office setting but will also operate in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions as dictated by project requirements.

Must be willing to travel extensively.

Must be able to occasionally climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and enter confined spaces.
