Job Title: Marine Debris Outreach Internship

Job Summary:

The Marine Debris Outreach Internship is an exciting opportunity to work with the University of Georgia's Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant program. As an intern, you will be responsible for leading youth outreach programs to coastal Georgia schools and afterschool programs, engaging aquarium and science center visitors with tabling activities and science-based hands-on demonstrations, and assisting in planning, preparation, and event logistics for Low Country Network regional events.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead youth outreach programs to coastal Georgia schools and afterschool programs
  • Engage aquarium and science center visitors with tabling activities and science-based hands-on demonstrations
  • Assist in planning, preparation, and event logistics for Low Country Network regional events
  • Attend and provide hands-on learning activities at various outreach events from Brunswick, GA to Beaufort, SC

Requirements:

  • Pursuing an education degree and/or has interest in environmental education as a career
  • Has experience working with youth audiences
  • Intern must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university

Working Conditions:

The Marine Debris Outreach Internship is hosted at the UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium near Savannah, Georgia, and cannot be accomplished virtually. The intern will be required to work outdoors in ambient conditions and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
