Job Summary

The Environment of Care and Emergency Management (ECEM) Facility Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) facilities. This position collaborates with regional directors, facility safety directors, and hospital leadership to coordinate activities related to regulatory agencies, accreditation standards, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Environment of Care Committee to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Develop and implement integrated plans for maintaining continuous compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as decontamination officer and manage the decontamination team, including training and recruitment.
  • Write, modify, and monitor hazardous materials (HAZMAT) facility emergency preparedness plans.
  • Manage hazardous chemical waste streams and complete indoor air quality studies.
  • Coordinate Joint Commission activities with other departments, including Public Safety, Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.
  • Facilitate meetings with BSWH Safe Choice to review employee injury data and develop action plans.
  • Assist with project close-out processes and design in-service/orientation training programs.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, local, and TJC environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Experience working with hospital environment of care programs, general safety programs, or emergency management programs.
  • Proficiency in basic technology and computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate relevant state and federal rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
