The Patient Access Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare revenue cycle by ensuring accurate processing of patient data related to insurance and demographic details, adhering to specific unit policies while remaining informed about payer insurance regulations. This position is responsible for initiating processes and assessing patient information for surgical and diagnostic procedures, ensuring systematic availability across the healthcare facility.
Core Responsibilities:
- Meets established quality and productivity benchmarks while maintaining professional interactions with physicians, office staff, employees, vendors, patients, and their representatives.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
This role requires a minimum of two years of experience in a medical office or customer service environment. Participation in orientation, patient access training programs, and ongoing education is essential to maintain knowledge and skills in relevant areas.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in word processing and PC applications is required, along with basic mathematical skills. Effective verbal and written communication, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are essential. Familiarity with hospital registration systems, Eclipsys, or PHS/HPF, and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a clinical setting with potential exposure to various hazards.
