About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Investment Associate to join our team at J Harlan Group, LLC. As a key member of our investment team, you will be responsible for evaluating and executing investments within various asset classes and across the capital structure.

You will work closely with senior members of the firm to analyze financial models, cash flow models, securitization models, valuation analysis, and financial statements. Your excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills will enable you to effectively communicate complex investment ideas to the investment committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Corporate financial modeling (debt and equity) and asset valuation
  • Qualitative and quantitative business, financial, and other due diligence in conjunction with the deal team and third-party advisors, agents, accountants (sector/operating experts)
  • Analyze transaction structures based on input from senior team
  • Preparing internal materials, including Investment Memorandums and transaction analysis for presentation to Investment Committee
  • Begin developing sector-based ecosystems of subject matter experts and transaction sources
  • Monitoring and supporting investment assets and portfolio companies
Requirements
  • Investment banking, investment firm or fund experience (Credit or M&A experience a plus)
  • Ability to analyze financial models, cash flow models, securitization models, valuation analysis, and financial statements
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to manage a process from start to finish with true ownership in areas that might be new to both the individual and even the firm

J Harlan Group, LLC is a New York-based, private credit fund manager that provides collateralized loans to small and mid-sized, non-sponsored businesses. Our investment funds deliver senior-secured, short-term funding to companies that have quality operations, assets, and strong profit opportunity, but lack efficient access to capital.

We operate like a private equity firm, offering a wide array of resources to our portfolio companies - above and beyond traditional lenders - and underwriting more efficiently and rapidly. Our team of 27 professionals has deep investment and operating expertise, and we have completed over 110 transactions and deployed more than $1.4 billion in capital to companies across a variety of sectors.

What We Offer

The salary range is $145,000 - $175,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable laws.
