Overview

Trilon Group, a prominent firm in the engineering sector, is seeking an experienced Cultural Resource Specialist to enhance our team.

Your role will encompass the effective oversight of projects related to aboveground cultural resources, ensuring that quality, scope, schedule, and budgetary objectives are consistently achieved. This position also involves engaging in marketing initiatives and business development strategies, participating in networking opportunities, and advocating for the services offered by Trilon Group.

As we expand, we are in search of a visionary leader to supervise and mentor a team of cultural resource professionals, which may include junior staff, students, and interns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments of buildings, structures, and landscapes to evaluate their eligibility for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places based on established criteria.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed projects on National Register-eligible resources within the designated Area of Potential Effects (APE).
  • Draft technical compliance reports for submission to relevant preservation offices. Research and develop historic contexts on various themes.
  • Regularly collaborate with clients, preservation offices, and local historic preservation staff in the execution of duties.
  • Prepare nominations for the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Perform viewshed analyses.
  • Provide support for Master Planning and NEPA processes.
  • Assist archaeologists at Trilon Group by conducting historical research for archaeological projects, including reviewing county histories, researching property deeds, census records, historic maps, and more.
  • Engage in networking events to connect with potential clients.
  • Create marketing materials.
  • Participate in grant writing efforts (private, federal, state).
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation Planning, or a closely related field.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Standards for Architectural History.
  • Completion of at least one course in American Architecture.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in architectural history within the eastern United States.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations.
  • Experience collaborating with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO).
  • Familiarity with Kentucky SHPO guidelines for fieldwork and reporting is advantageous.
  • Must meet prequalification criteria with the relevant transportation cabinet.
  • Demonstrated expertise in classifying and documenting eastern and midwestern residential, commercial, and public buildings.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel within a reasonable distance as required.
