We are seeking a highly skilled Surety Bonds Underwriting Manager to join our team at GAIC Great American Insurance Company. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing complex risk selection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability within the scope of your authority and divisional objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and analyze low to moderately complex risk selection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability within the scope of your authority and divisional objectives.
- Use independent judgment and initiative to support business goals and maintain a high level of customer service.
- Receive and analyze submissions, determine terms to offer, and price business in accordance with company guidelines.
- Conduct investigations of new and existing accounts through business owners, assess risk quality and compliance within company guidelines, and order and analyze miscellaneous business reports.
- Make recommendations on risks over authority, enter, maintain, and monitor accounts using underwriting, analysis, and desktop systems, and prepare effective internal and external communications on underwriting issues.
- Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers to attract and retain profitable business.
- Visit producers and principals to retain existing accounts, build and maintain business relationships, and develop new opportunities in support of divisional objectives.
- Apply underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance and assistance to lower-level associates and may have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Generally looking for 3+ years of related experience, with progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred.
