Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyzing chemical content of fluids, and cross-matching blood for transfusion and organ transplantation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including blood banking, coagulation, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Identify and analyze microorganisms, including bacteria, parasites, and viruses.
  • Prepare and analyze blood samples for transfusion and organ transplantation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely test results.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure laboratory accuracy and reliability.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program.
  • Medical Lab Technician Certification through ASCP, AMT, ACHI, or an equivalent certification agency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
