Join Our Team as a Sensory Evaluation Specialist

Russell Tobin & Associates is currently seeking a Sensory Evaluation Specialist to support our client's agribusiness initiatives.

Position Overview:

Employment Type: Contract/Onsite

Compensation: $20-$24/hr, based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the product development team on various sensory initiatives, including difference panels, attribute training, and team tastings.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, ideally during standard business hours.
  • Comprehend the objectives and scope of sensory projects.
  • Prepare for sensory panels by creating reference samples, setting up the panel room, and serving samples during training sessions.
  • Establish sensory booths, including labeling sample cups/plates and managing sensory tests using the Eye Question program.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the panel room, sample preparation lab, and sensory booths.
  • Assist in restocking supplies and conducting weekly inventory for the sensory lab area.
  • Support routine food safety practices and maintain storage areas for dishes and panel supplies.
  • Adhere to food safety, environmental health and safety, and personal protective equipment policies.
  • Safeguard and document all sensitive information to protect potential patentable advancements in technology.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork skills while also being able to work independently, demonstrating excellent communication abilities.
  • Assist in collecting samples and supplies for sensory evaluations.
  • Ensure that tablets and laptops are regularly updated and maintained.
  • Support product developers with relevant analytical or shelf-life testing as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proactive in resolving technical challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment while adhering to good manufacturing practices.
  • Reliable transportation for commuting to the work site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with kitchen operations is advantageous.
