Position Overview:
The Assistant Culinary Manager will serve as the pivotal support to our Director of Culinary Services, adhering to established culinary standards and operational guidelines. This role encompasses comprehensive management of the designated kitchen and its staff, ensuring the exceptional preparation of all menu offerings and the proper handling and storage of food items in line with Oak View Group's standards. The ideal candidate will leverage their culinary expertise and leadership abilities to enhance customer satisfaction.
Compensation: This position offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $75,000.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Culinary Services in supervising the culinary team for daily operations and special events.
- Oversee multiple kitchen facilities on-site.
- Ensure that culinary standards are upheld at the highest level daily, developing and revising policies and manuals as necessary.
- Manage staff training and development to uphold professional culinary standards.
- Understand and comply with the Collective Bargaining Agreements relevant to the unit.
- Supervise union culinary and stewarding personnel to meet labor and production goals.
- Monitor and manage all costs, including labor and food expenses, to remain within budgetary constraints.
- Support the Oak View Group philosophy regarding hiring practices, employee relations, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure adherence to culinary standards and techniques for food preparation, presentation, and service.
- Provide coaching to team members, fostering a shared understanding of objectives and recognizing achievements.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain comprehensive staff records, including training documentation and performance metrics.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and guests for mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Stay informed about regional culinary trends and ingredient sourcing.
- Focus on improving profit margins by analyzing performance metrics and inventory trends.
- Support and implement the company's sustainability initiatives, including the use of local and minority vendors.
- Maintain the integrity of the Oak View Group menu, ensuring food quality and safety.
- Adhere to kitchen fundamentals, managing waste and standardizing recipes and ingredients.
- Ensure accurate food consumption estimates for requisitions and purchases.
- Oversee proper operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Comply with all safety, health, and union regulations in culinary operations.
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree preferred or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a culinary management capacity.
- Experience in special events, hospitality, or catering is required.
- Previous leadership experience with unionized staff is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of food service principles and practices is essential.
- Ability to foster effective relationships with clients and customers is required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.
- Physical requirements include occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary.
