Stroke Program Coordinator

Job Summary:
Fort Loudoun Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the role of Stroke Program Coordinator. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in nursing, with a focus on cerebrovascular disease and stroke care.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Stroke Program at Fort Loudoun Medical Center, working closely with the Stroke Medical Director, Stroke Nurse Practitioner, Regulatory, Quality, and Hospital Administration to maintain Comprehensive Stroke Certification.
- Manage and coordinate stroke patient care during and post hospitalization.
- Lead the development of care plans, protocols, order sets, and other guidelines in the management of stroke, including TIAs, ischemic stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke.
- Facilitate Stroke Community Events, including coordinating screening stations, arranging for guest speakers, and other activities.
- Monitor and provide ongoing staff educational opportunities for all levels and departments interacting with the Stroke population.
- Oversee compliance with stroke education requirements for all hospital nurses, in conjunction with the Educator, Stroke Unit Manager, and ED Stroke Manager.
- Ensure education and compliance of EMS services.
- Collect and analyze ongoing data regarding outcomes of the Stroke Program, submitting required data to the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies as requested.
- Identify and design quality improvement projects dedicated to improving patient care.
- Perform and evaluate the effectiveness of patient teaching.
- Maintain clinical knowledge and skills for the stroke patient population and act as a consultant to nursing staff.
- Act as a resource to the hospital for care of the stroke patient, regardless of admitting diagnosis.
- Participate in stroke-directed research, including acquisition of data in addition to The Joint Commission required data.
- Maintain established stroke care policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with all administrative, nursing, medical, and paramedical personnel.
- Coordinate, direct, and motivate personnel.
- Demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in making decisions.
- Provide leadership in solving problems.
- Participate in meetings and committees as required.
- Complete continuing education on cerebrovascular disease, including acute stroke care, as required by the organization.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Complete required education assignments annually.
- Work toward achieving goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in nursing and license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. BSN preferred.
- Five (5) years' experience in nursing.
- Must have current and maintained Tennessee RN nursing license.
