Job SummaryThe Senior Vocational Assistant/Driver will work under the direction of the classroom teacher to carry out the duties and functions of the position. This includes demonstrating a basic understanding of growth and development, proficiency in behavior management, and knowledge of the subject to be taught.
Responsibilities- Assist students in developing positive self-concepts and stimulating their independence as learners.
- Prepare instructional materials to achieve selected objectives and assist with the implementation of instructional plans.
- Effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff to ensure a positive learning environment.
- Identify potential risk factors and take measures to reduce those risks in the milieu through reinforcement of positive and safe behaviors.
- Participate in emergency safety interventions and report suspected child abuse/neglect according to agency policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree and 1 year of appropriate experience, or High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years of appropriate experience.
- Three (3) years of consecutive driving experience and a valid Connecticut Driver's License.
- Public Passenger 'A' Endorsement within 90 days of employment.
- Random alcohol and controlled substance testing program participation and successful completion.
