Key Responsibilities
  • Support the installation, testing, troubleshooting, programming, maintenance, and repair of digital switching equipment, attendant consoles, power and ringing relay racks, and other telecommunications and data circuits in a central switching office.
  • Analyze system failures to determine whether issues are caused by software, hardware, or other factors, and implement corrective actions to resolve problems.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records for central office operations, including cable, line, and subscriber service records, as well as managing spare parts inventories.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain digital switching equipment, power and ringing relay racks, and related telecommunications systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Repair and program telecommunications and data circuits, including fire alarms and intrusion alarms, to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Analyze system failures to isolate and resolve issues related to software, hardware, or other causes, and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain central office records, including detailed traffic analysis, cable, line, and subscriber service records, and spare parts inventories, to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing OSP cable systems, including copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling. BICSI certification is required, as well as training in OSHA Confined Space, basic bucket truck operations, ladder safety, aerial and scissor lift safety, GPS, and cable location. The candidate must also be well-versed in BICSI rules, regulations, and standards, and have experience developing layout and design for outside plant infrastructure systems. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and industry standards and practices regarding the installation and maintenance of outside plant infrastructure is also essential. Additionally, the candidate must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
