About the Role

Beach Cities Learning is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behavioral Therapist to join our special education team. As a Behavioral Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with special needs, helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students, monitoring their ability to follow directions and behavior.
  • Ride in school vans to transport students to and from school.
  • Collect data on student progress and assist in maintaining records related to student achievement.
  • Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide students with opportunities to practice.
  • Assist students in community, recreational, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Implement district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years' experience working with children in a special needs education setting.
  • Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times.
  • Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions.
