Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our water and wastewater treatment plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plants to ensure safe and clean drinking water for our communities.
  • Conduct laboratory analysis and documentation to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans to prevent equipment failures and ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Provide training and guidance to new employees and contractors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., environmental science, engineering, or a related field).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment plant operation and maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license and Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • General knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Class Licensure (I, II, III, or IV) in water and/or wastewater treatment.
  • Experience with electrical or plumbing trades.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
