Job Title: Water Production Maintenance Worker

City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly motivated and innovative maintenance worker to join our team. As a key member of our Public Utilities department, you will be responsible for conducting and maintaining grounds housekeeping, hedge trimming, grass cutting, and weed eating, clearing fence lines, and cutting large fields.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain and operate a zero turn mower, tractor, and ground maintenance tools such as a back pack blower. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance on equipment, including adding oil or checking nuts and bolts for tightness, cleaning, painting, and re-labeling.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Performing indoor maintenance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical repairs, fixture moving or repair, and cleaning buildings, electrical rooms, and mechanical rooms.
  • Performing outdoor maintenance, including concrete work, painting, roof replacing or repairs, structure repair, and other tasks.
  • Assisting with remote sites crews with equipment repairs, meter readings, and administration of water treatment chemicals.
  • Performing standby duties as assigned.
