Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Utility Electronics Technician II to join our team at the City of Chesapeake. This role requires a strong background in electronics and electrical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and install electrical equipment and devices for the Lake Gaston and Northwest River Water Treatment Plants and their associated remote site operations.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair various types of electrical equipment, including programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, three phase motors, and motor control devices.
  • Calibrate, replace, clean, and/or repair various process instrumentation, such as flowmeters, level probes, pressure transducers, and ultrasonic devices.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of pumps and other plumbing and mechanical equipment.
  • Operate computers and related software to produce and manage detailed records and files of all work performed.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in electronics or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of two years of full-time equivalent experience in electronics or a closely related field.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City Driving Standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of DC and three phase AC power systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
