Position Overview

Become a pivotal member of our platform strategy division at Autodesk, where your expertise will drive the formulation of a comprehensive platform strategy while facilitating execution through prioritization and development of strategic initiatives. You will play a key role in identifying and assessing potential M&A opportunities and collaborating on cross-functional strategies for technology partnerships. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Platform Strategy and Technology Partnerships, you will influence and lead platform strategy initiatives across various teams within the organization.

Your contributions will shape the business direction for our global platform transformation by recommending effective business strategies that significantly impact platform efforts across diverse industry sectors.

We prefer candidates based in the U.S., particularly in locations that allow for remote or hybrid work arrangements. Candidates from anywhere in the U.S. willing to travel to our San Francisco office on a quarterly or monthly basis will also be considered.

Responsibilities

The Platform Strategy team focuses on several key areas:

  • Platform Strategy: Develop a strategic vision for the next 3-5 years for Autodesk's horizontal technologies within Autodesk Platform Services (APS), including Data, AI/ML, Insights, Developer, Trust, Visualization, and other cross-industry capabilities. Support the strategic evolution of Autodesk products into workflow-centric cloud-based solutions while aligning with technology and research leaders.
  • Developer Ecosystem Monetization: Formulate a long-term strategy for monetizing Autodesk's developer ecosystem to enhance growth and adoption of our product offerings, creating additional revenue streams. This strategy should provide high-value functionalities for our customers beyond standard offerings.
  • M&A: Identify and assess M&A opportunities to enhance platform value and explore innovative business models related to new offerings.
  • Hypothesis Generation: Support the hypothesis generation process for complex initiatives, developing high-quality (MECE and relevant) hypothesis trees.
  • Workplan Development: Create and update workplans to ensure strategic alignment and progress.
  • Analytical Approaches: Develop analytical methodologies to validate hypotheses through interviews, surveys, and data analysis.
  • Recommendations: Formulate realistic, value-adding, and implementable recommendations that integrate strategic, organizational, technological, and cultural considerations.
  • Influence and Leadership: Successfully lead and influence within a matrixed environment, including engagement with senior stakeholders.
  • Presentation Structuring: Create impactful presentations of VP-level quality.
  • Relationship Building: Establish trusted working relationships at the Sr. Director/VP level across the organization.
  • Collaboration: Work with research and analytical teams to ensure relevant analyses and insights inform platform strategy initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of strategy consulting experience, ideally at the Sr. Consultant/Case Team Leader level in leading firms with rigorous training.
  • Experience in strategy work within the technology sector, preferably software/SaaS.
  • Relevant technology fluency.
  • Engineering degree or demonstrated interest/experience in computer/information technology fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M&A due diligence experience.
  • MBA or similar Master's degree.

Salary Transparency

We provide competitive compensation packages, with starting base salaries ranging from $148,200 to $239,800 for U.S.-based roles, depending on experience and location.
