Job Summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Planning Manager to lead the development of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). This position will oversee the coordination of internal staff activities, manage relationships with multiple NCDOT units, and lead coordination efforts with 27 jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have experience with the Strategic Transportation Investments legislation and NCDOT Prioritization process, as well as strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage internal staff activities to meet federal and state requirements and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with multiple NCDOT units, including the Strategic Prioritization Office, Divisions 10 and 12, Transportation Planning Division, Integrated Mobility Division, Rail Division, and Aviation Division.
  • Lead coordination efforts with 27 jurisdictions.
  • Prepare the TIP financial plan.
  • Coordinate TIP Amendments with NCDOT, Metrolina Regional Travel Demand Model staff, and the Charlotte Area Transit System.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation planning, or civil engineering with five years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree in urban planning, transportation planning, or civil engineering with three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with the Strategic Transportation Investments legislation and NCDOT Prioritization process.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
