Job Description:

This position is part of the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate at Naval Sea Systems Command. The successful candidate will serve as the Ford Class Ship Design Manager and System Engineering Manager for various technical areas, including machinery control systems, steering gear control systems, voice, video, navigation, and integrated bridge systems.

The incumbent will provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions, as well as provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication. They will also address technical issues with ship modernization efforts and support the development of new Ship Change Documents.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machinery control systems, good technical writing and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will also have experience working with technical authorities and program managers in an engineering role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions
  • Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication
  • Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts
  • Support the development of new Ship Change Documents
  • Work with technical authorities and program managers

Requirements:

  • 4-yr engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with machinery control systems
  • Good technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with technical authorities and program managers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marines operations
  • Experience at a shipyard or Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center
  • Experience working with technical authority and program managers

Security Clearance: Fully adjudicated SECRET security clearance required.
