Job Title: Navigation Systems Engineer

ENGINEERING SERVICES NETWORK, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Navigation Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate, you will play a critical role in supporting the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Warfare System Engineering Manager.

Job Summary:

The Navigation Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and assessing risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM). This includes providing engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN68) and/or Ford (CVN78) operational experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary Navigational Systems expert for CVN 68 and CVN 78 Class aircraft carriers.
  • Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM).
  • Provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) and/or Ford (CVN 78) operational experience.
  • Participate and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs).
  • Review Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs) for Planned Maintenance System (PMS) changes requiring Designated Technical Representative (DTR) review.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters.
  • Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide technical recommendations.
  • Develop formal presentations to brief to senior officials.
  • Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit proposals for changes.
Requirements:
  • Either an Engineering Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine; or in lieu of degree 10 years' experience as an operator/maintainer of navigation systems on Navy, Coast Guard or Merchant Marine vessels.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineer with degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience with Navigational Systems on US Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine vessels.
  • Worked with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), and/or Type Commander (TYCOM) supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of shipboard systems.
  • Experience working with technical authority (e.g. NAVSEA 05 and 08).
  • Experience working with program managers (e.g. PEO Carriers, PMS 312, PMS 378, etc.) in an engineering role.
  • Experience with shipboard networks and systems.
  • Experience with US Navy, USCG or MSC vessels.
  • Preferably experience with aircraft carriers.
  • Good technical writing and communication skills.
  • An active Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship.
