Radiology Clinical Support Student Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Radiology Clinical Support Student to join our team at Presbyterian Healthcare Services. As a Radiology Clinical Support Student, you will provide clinical assistance and support to the Radiology department by performing a variety of clinical and clerical tasks under the direct supervision of a Licensed Radiology Professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure imaging orders are correct and available for technologist review.
  • Review scheduled procedures to ensure pre-procedure labs are ordered prior to scheduled exam.
  • Answer all calls promptly and courteously, taking accurate messages and delivering them in a timely manner.
  • Transcribe, schedule, and reschedule patient examinations, documenting appropriately all necessary information and providing prep information.
  • Assist the imaging technologist and radiologist by contacting referring providers.
  • Provide copies of imaging records and upload images in the PACS system for patients.
  • Utilize Hospital (Epic) and Radiology (RIS, PACS) software programs to perform duties and ensure that the data entry is correct.
  • Assist patients with forms, access to exam rooms, changing of clothing.
  • Transport patients from department to patient pick-up, transport to/from clinical areas to department.
  • Clean and disinfect/prepared and maintain patient examination rooms, holding bays and waiting areas.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Obtain lab results and check for allergies and implants prior to patients scheduled examination.
  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety.
  • Check equipment supplies and accessories on a regular basis. Required to maintain stock of supplies for department examination rooms.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation and education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, or GED equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Actively enrolled as a student in an accredited Radiologic Technology program in preparation of registry (ARRT/ARDMS).
