**Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center** is seeking a dedicated and passionate **Preschool Teacher** to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for an energetic and creative individual who is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of early childhood development and a passion for teaching and guiding young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Create a Well-Organized Learning Environment**: Plan and maintain a well-organized, safe, clean, and learning environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
  • **Observe and Document Child Development**: Observe and document each child's learning and development; maintain current documentation in electronic student portfolios.
  • **Develop Weekly Lesson Plans**: Review the progress of each child and develop weekly written lesson plans to promote each child's growth and development.
  • **Implement Curriculum and Program Standards**: Fully implement curriculum and preschool program standards in accordance with policies and procedures, regulations, and guidelines set forth.
  • **Supervise and Guide Volunteers**: Supervise and provide guidance to all volunteers and unpaid interns.
  • **Maintain a Cooperative Attitude**: Maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with the teacher assistant, volunteers, parents, and program specialists in planning and implementing activities.
  • **Maintain Discipline and Supervision**: Maintain discipline and supervision of children during all activities, as defined in the Discipline and Active Supervision Policy.
  • **Implement Positive Behavior Support**: Implement Positive Behavior Support strategies and behavior plans.
  • **Detect Signs of Illness or Injury**: Observe children daily to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional disturbance, learning disorder, speech problem, or other special needs.
  • **Maintain Attendance Records**: Ensure daily attendance records are maintained and accurately reported to the office at the end of the month.
  • **Conduct Quarterly Assessment Checkpoints**: Complete quarterly assessment checkpoints and conduct family conferences to discuss children's developmental progress, needs, and interests.
  • **Implement Individual Education Plans**: Ensure full implementation of Individual Education Plans and/or behavior support plans.
  • **Collaborate with Program Staff**: Collaborate with program staff to promote and participate in family engagement activities.
  • **Safeguard Classroom Supplies**: Safeguard all classroom supplies and equipment.
  • **Participate in Staff Meetings**: Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff training as required.
Requirements
  • **Minimum Qualifications**: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • **Certification**: NJ Preschool–Grade 3 Standard (or CE, CEAS, TE) Certificate.
  • **Prior Experience**: Prior experience working with preschool-aged children, including children with disabilities.
  • **Strong Understanding**: Strong understanding of early childhood development.
  • **Excellent Communication Skills**: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • **Ability to Create Engaging Lesson Plans**: Ability to create engaging and lesson plans and activities with strong academic rigor.
  • **Patience and Compassion**: Patience, compassion, and a love for working with young children.
  • **Ability to Work Effectively**: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • **Knowledge of Educational Technology**: Knowledge of relevant educational technology and tools.
