About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at CHC Learning Center. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a critical role in identifying, appraising, and interpreting communicative disorders of speech, voice, and language, as well as oral/motor and feeding disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Therapy Programs: Plan and provide educational group and individual therapy programming as indicated by Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  • Supervise and Evaluate Staff: Provide supervision, evaluation, and work assignments to assigned instructional assistants, therapists, student teachers, and/or volunteers when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Team: Responsible for own involvement as an active contributing team member involving group decision making and the development of a positive, cooperative learning and work environment.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders: Confers with physicians, other professional individuals, and parents concerning the diagnostic and therapeutic program and overall communication and oral/motor/feeding needs of the student.
  • Document Progress: Documents evaluations, treatment goals, plans, and student progress.
  • Stay Current with Professional Development: Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, workshops, etc. Keeps up to date on current professional literature.
  • Write Justification Letters: Writes letters of justification for AAC devices to either Early Intervention, School Districts, or Medicaid.
  • Perform Evaluations: Performs Early Intervention, Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE)/Committee on Special Education (CSE), or Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) evaluations as necessary.
Requirements
  • Experience: 1 year of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist (Preferred).
  • License/Certification: NYS License in Speech Language Pathology (Preferred).
  • Relocation: Ability to relocate to Erie County, NY before starting work (Required).
