Job Title: Assistant Director of Exhibitions and Planning

Museum Associates seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as Assistant Director of Exhibitions and Planning. This is a key leadership role that will oversee the development and implementation of our ambitious exhibition program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain long-range exhibition schedules and budgets in collaboration with the Deputy Director.
  • Lead planning and coordination for all exhibitions, liaising with stakeholder teams across the museum.
  • Establish project budgets, coordinate preparation and scheduling of Exhibition Review Committee Meetings, and lead review.
  • Oversee the development of exhibition tours, agreements, and other necessary documents.
  • Lead planning for exhibition program annual operating budget and collaborate with the Deputy Director and Senior Financial Analyst to ensure program and project scopes meet divisional targets.
  • Liaise with key external stakeholders to support the museum's pioneering initiatives.
  • Provide clear communication of program, schedule, titles, and credit lines to staff throughout the museum.

Requirements:

  • BA in art history or related field.
  • 8 to 10 years progressively responsible experience in exhibition budgeting, planning, and production.
  • Extensive knowledge of the exhibition development and implementation process, including project management, budgeting, and contracts.
  • Ability to problem solve, be proactive, flexible, and adaptive to changing priorities, and to collaborate with a diverse implementation team.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office and Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language is beneficial.

Benefits:

  • The expected salary for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $115,000 - $125,000 subject to change, and the position is eligible for Museum Associates' comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.
