About the Office of Early Childhood

The Office of Early Childhood (OEC) is a collaborative effort between the City of Cambridge and Cambridge Public Schools, working under the leadership of the Department of Human Service Programs. Our mission is to connect the Cambridge early childhood ecosystem, align early childhood services and information, and advocate for and advance the needs of all young children, their families, and the early childhood workforce.

About the Role

The Outreach and Enrollment Specialist will be responsible for the Cambridge Office of Early Childhood's family-facing outreach, including family-facing components of CPP application and enrollment. This includes collaboration with the City of Cambridge family support partners and timely and accurate completion of CPP applications.

The Outreach and Enrollment Specialist will report to the Enrollment Manager and be responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing CPP and other related OEC family and community outreach efforts. They will prioritize the enrollment of high-needs children and families into CPP and liaise with city family support partners to ensure successful CPP outreach and application periods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement CPP and other related OEC family and community outreach efforts.

  • Liaise with city family support partners to ensure successful CPP outreach and application periods.
  • Support the OEC Enrollment Manager in implementing the CPP enrollment strategy, adhering to timelines, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Support the OEC team and other partners in creating a family-friendly CPP application process, including in-person application support sites, information sessions, and workshops.
  • Manage the collection, review, and verification of CPP applications and supporting documents, including a system to follow up with families to complete necessary steps for CPP application.
  • Act as the primary contact for all staff who process CPP applications.
  • Support the Enrollment Manager with all aspects of the application/enrollment platform, including maintaining accurate application and placement records and running reports.
  • Assist families and program partners with enrolling CPP children into their preschool programs.
  • Be a point of contact for parents and caregivers regarding CPP application and placement inquiries and concerns.
  • Be a point of contact for designated enrollment coordinators at CPP partner sites.
  • Assist the Enrollment Manager and the OEC with evaluation and continuous improvement efforts, staying informed about best practices in family engagement, Pre-K enrollment, and early childhood education to inform program improvements.
  • Actively participate in the Department of Human Service Program's Race and Equity Initiative.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

The ideal candidate will have relevant educational qualifications, such as a Bachelor's Degree, or any equivalent combination of professional experience in early childhood education or human services. They will have experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds, experience working in an urban setting, and strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements, Working Conditions, Work Flexibility, and Accommodations

The Outreach and Enrollment Specialist will be able to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer, answer phones, and maintain multiple files. They will be able to lift a minimum of at least 10 pounds and work indoors in a professional office setting. The position may be eligible for hybrid work under the City's Telework Policy, depending on operational needs.
