Position Overview:

The Solar Project Engineer role is an essential component of the project team, tasked with the creation of project designs, specifications, and cost assessments while providing technical support at the construction level for large-scale solar and energy storage initiatives. This position engages in the project lifecycle from initial development through to construction and final transition to the Asset Management team.

Key Responsibilities: (including but not limited to):

  • Design and engineering of extensive photovoltaic and energy storage systems, emphasizing value-driven engineering and performance enhancement.
  • Develop detailed design packages suitable for permitting and construction.
  • Establish project-specific technical requirements, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, engineers, electric utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and operational strategies.
  • Generate project cost estimates and assist in project procurement.
  • Assess and analyze new and emerging technologies and equipment.
  • Prepare bid solicitation packages for essential equipment and contracted labor.
  • Review and manage contractor requests for information (RFIs) and submittals.
  • Conduct site quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Agilitas.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with PVSyst or comparable energy modeling software.
  • Fundamental understanding of the solar and energy storage design and construction processes.
  • Exceptional time management and workload prioritization skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude with a knack for delivering innovative solutions.
  • Self-motivated, highly driven, and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
  • Capability to interpret electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural drawings.
  • Robust work ethic with a dedication to advancing renewable energy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in solar PV and energy storage engineering, development, and/or construction.
  • Experience with design/build commercial or industrial construction projects and contracts.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Card is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Building and Electrical codes.
