Purpose and Scope

The Administrative Specialist III, Student Services, plays a critical role in supporting the mission of Lone Star College by providing high-level administrative support to the Student Services department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and coordinate general office operations, including supervising, training, and coordinating the workload of clerical staff.
  • Troubleshoot questions, inquiries, and complaints, and direct them to the appropriate person.
  • Coordinate a variety of meetings and maintain scheduling of office conference rooms.
  • Produce detailed reports and documents, including performing research, typing, coordinating, proofreading, printing, and compiling.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of general office equipment with internal departments and/or external vendors.
  • Assist with training and oversight of new employees within the assigned area.
  • Track and maintain inventory of supplies, manage the process of purchasing supplies and services, and prepare all appropriate documentation, following LSC purchasing guidelines.
  • Assist with departmental budget preparation and maintenance, track expenditures on a monthly basis, and complete budget analyses throughout the year.
  • Accurately enter and submit expense reports as needed.
  • Respond to routine correspondence on own initiative or draft responses for manager review.
  • Plan and coordinate a variety of meetings, events, trainings, etc., including venue reservations, space assignment, handouts, and meal arrangements.

Work Environment

The work is sedentary, with some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
