The University of New Mexico invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Quantum Optics and Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) Physics in the Quantum Optics Laboratory. The successful candidate will conduct research on atom-photon interfaces to generate nonclassical states of atomic ensembles of alkali atoms based on measurement backaction and feedback, including spin squeezing for quantum metrology.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on atom-photon interfaces to generate nonclassical states of atomic ensembles of alkali atoms
- Develop and implement measurement backaction and feedback techniques
- Collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students on research projects
- Participate in CQuIC activities, including workshops, seminars, and SQuInT
- PhD in a relevant discipline by the start date of appointment
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment in AMO Physics and QIS
- Expertise in laser cooling and trapping
- Technical expertise in RF electronics, optics, and lasers
- Expertise in computer interfacing and instrument control
