Job Title: Executive Director

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of Virginia Section American Water Works Association, responsible for leading the organization's strategic direction and overseeing its daily operations. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong vision, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan, aligning with the Board of Directors' goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and resources to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including members, sponsors, and partners, to promote the organization's mission and goals.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs that support the organization's mission and goals.
  • Manage the organization's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible use of resources.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and other events, promoting its mission and goals.
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a non-profit or association setting.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and resources.
  • Strong financial management skills, with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ability to represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and other events, promoting its mission and goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in a relevant field, such as leadership or management.
  • Experience working in a non-profit or association setting, preferably in a leadership role.
