Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Pre-Anesthesia Testing RN to provide exceptional patient care and support in our Pre-Anesthesia Testing department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing care for patients of all ages in our Pre-Anesthesia Testing department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient charts are complete and obtain necessary labs, EKG, chest x-ray, doctor office notes, or cardiac clearance.
  • Interview patients as they arrive at the surgery center, providing emotional support and explaining all procedures.
  • Obtain complete medical history using preadmission questionnaire and obtain necessary releases for needed records and HIPAA regulations.
  • Review and give patient pre-op instructions, placing an initialed copy in the patient's chart.
  • Consult with anesthesiologist in charge regarding abnormal labs, EKG, or any questionable patient condition affecting clearance for surgery.
  • Maintain patient logs and ensure completed patient charts for the next day are in a locked cabinet in pre-op.
  • Leave memos communicating necessary information to pre-op staff and next day's pre-admit staff.
  • Cross-train in related areas.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Currently licensed in the state.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • One year experience required in an intra-operative setting.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
