The Fashion Jewelry Merchandising Specialist is tasked with formulating and executing the merchandise strategy for a designated department/class, ensuring alignment with financial objectives. This role is pivotal in steering the team towards achieving key financial metrics and performance indicators, including sales and gross margin. Collaboration with the Merchandise Manager and/or Director of Merchandising, along with cross-functional teams, is essential to align the seasonal line planning process effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Craft a comprehensive seasonal merchandise assortment strategy and roadmap for the assigned area, aligning with financial targets and seasonal objectives.
  • Provide analytical, creative, and managerial support to the Merchandise Manager/Director, assisting in the daily operations of the department.
  • Conduct weekly and seasonal analysis of business performance and key metrics; take ownership of levers such as markdowns, promotions, and risk mitigation to drive business outcomes.
  • Supervise the training and execution of tasks for Assistant Merchants and Associate Merchants, including sample management, report preparation, and purchase order maintenance.
  • Manage seasonal hindsight, buying decisions, style rankings, SKU optimization, and pricing strategies that align with financial plans.
  • Oversee product tracking to ensure timely delivery and analyze sales risks, escalating issues to senior management as necessary.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Design, Product Development, Marketing, Planning, and other merchandising partners to enhance the seasonal buying process.
  • Collaborate closely with the ISP team to determine optimal in-store product placements that support overall product and promotional strategies.
  • Maintain expertise in customer preferences and global competition, analyzing competitor assortments, pricing, and promotional strategies to inform seasonal product strategies.
  • Facilitate a productive work environment by coaching and mentoring team members, establishing a shared vision, setting clear objectives, and promoting teamwork.
  • Maintain all seasonal sales reports and records, distributing necessary information to cross-functional partners to ensure clear communication across the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising, business, or a related field.
  • 5-6 years of experience in merchandising or retail buying.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on solution-oriented decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, presentation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage business operations independently.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and a proven track record in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexibility and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
  • Understanding of current trends and their relevance to the Claire's/Icing customer base.
  • Strong retail math skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
