Branch Operations Supervisor (hourly)

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily functions of counter sales, warehousing, production, and delivery routes for the branch.
The Branch Operations Supervisor will manage all aspects of distribution, safety protocols, training, staffing, maintenance, dispatching, and other necessary activities.
The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently while demonstrating leadership qualities to ensure exceptional customer service.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Supervise, mentor, and assess the performance of inside sales representatives, drivers, plant workers (if applicable), and warehouse staff.
2. Guarantee that all customers receive exemplary service from company representatives.
3. Review accounts receivable for the status of existing accounts; liaise with the credit department and reach out to customers regarding overdue payments.
4. Keep the Branch Manager updated on daily operations and any issues that may arise.
5. Manage all operations related to the branch, including routing and maintenance of delivery vehicles, warehouse management, inside sales, and compliance documentation.
6. Evaluate the company's position and develop pricing strategies, cost assessments, and inventory management to enhance competitive advantage.
7. Analyze workforce, facilities, and miscellaneous expenses to control operational costs.
8. Engage in key supplier relationships and vendor selection processes.
9. Conduct field assessments, including material/equipment analysis, cylinder audits, pricing strategies, and customer attitudes towards Airgas.
10. Develop marketing initiatives for inside sales, manage operating expenses related to sales functions, and set performance objectives.
11. Organize monthly safety meetings and enforce safety regulations rigorously.
12. Act in the capacity of Branch Manager when required.
13. Provide guidance, leadership, and effective communication within the division.
14. Uphold the corporate image and philosophy in all interactions with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Assist customers with equipment setup and demonstrations as needed.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of stock transfers and backorders.
Verify that load manifests are accurately completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents.
Address subordinate complaints and grievances effectively.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; a Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.
3-5 years of experience in the welding industry is advantageous.
Proficiency in computer systems or basic knowledge of order entry systems is necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Ability to identify and nurture future leaders is important.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence. Capable of speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret various measurements, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Capable of computing rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpreting graphical data.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and address a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting a range of instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands to operate a calculator or PC; reach with hands and arms and communicate verbally.
The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the assistance of material handling equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
