Overview:

The Nutritional Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the preparation and delivery of meals, ensuring that food is handled safely and served at optimal temperatures. This position is essential for maintaining a pleasant dining experience for residents and guests, while adhering to established food safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a food service environment is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation and portioning of meals, including beverages, salads, and desserts, in accordance with dietary guidelines.
  • Follows safe food handling practices and complies with all relevant policies and regulations.
  • Records any modifications to the menu as per established procedures.
  • Ensures meals are presented attractively and served promptly.
  • Utilizes standardized recipes to maintain consistency in food preparation.
  • Delivers meals to designated areas within the scheduled timeframes.
  • Maintains accurate food temperatures during preparation and service, documenting as required.
  • Serves meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and preferences of residents.
  • Employs proper portion control techniques throughout the food preparation and serving process.
  • Labels and stores food items correctly to ensure freshness and safety.
  • Monitors refrigerator and freezer temperatures, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Cleans dishes and kitchen equipment following established sanitation procedures.
  • Maintains a tidy and organized work area during food preparation and service.
  • Completes cleaning tasks as assigned, using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols and utilizes personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Ensures that all necessary utensils and dishes are available for upcoming meals.
  • Assists in the receiving and verification of food and supply deliveries.
  • Reports low stock levels to the supervisor to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.
  • Utilizes food and equipment efficiently to minimize waste.
  • Ensures the security of the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Operates kitchen equipment safely and maintains it in good working order.
  • Completes tasks in a timely manner as per established schedules.
  • Offers suggestions for improvements in food preparation and service to enhance quality.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members across departments.
  • Interacts positively with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Exhibits professionalism and adheres to company policies and standards.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Participates in training sessions and applies learned skills to daily tasks.

  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
