Position Summary

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing testing strategies for both new and existing products, ensuring compliance with functional, technical, and regulatory standards while maintaining superior product quality. This position involves collaboration with Game/System Development and Product Development teams to address issues promptly. A strong understanding of software testing methodologies and procedures is essential for ensuring efficient testing processes and high-quality outcomes. The role also includes mentoring Associate SQA Engineers and leading inter-departmental project discussions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and execute comprehensive test plans and scripts for various game themes and systems.
  • Adhere to established SQA Work Instructions consistently.
  • Identify, document, and track product issues discovered during testing to ensure timely resolution.
  • Facilitate software defect review meetings and SQA milestone hand-off discussions with development teams.
  • Utilize necessary databases for SQA functions and testing activities.
  • Contribute to weekly project status reports for assigned projects.
  • Prepare detailed completion reports at the conclusion of each project.
  • Engage in root cause analysis and provide valuable insights.
  • Collaborate with Product Development team members to effectively communicate and resolve reported issues prior to product release.
  • Demonstrate a proficient understanding of software testing methodologies and the overall product development lifecycle.
  • Reproduce issues as needed to assist in their resolution by software development teams.
  • Manage project escalations for assigned projects.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support the SQA Department with special projects.
  • Initiate process improvement initiatives.
  • Establish key relationships with upstream organizations impacting SQA.
  • Mentor new Associate SQA Engineers on assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Academic and/or practical knowledge of Visual Studio.
  • Experience with C and/or C++ programming languages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic understanding of the gaming industry.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Software Quality Assurance.

Skills and Abilities

  • Solid understanding of computer operations and hardware principles.
  • Familiarity with TestRails and JIRA Defect Management tools.
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Perl or other shell scripting languages is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Capability to provide constructive input and solutions to identified issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Vision Requirements

  • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Peripheral vision and color distinction abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Prolonged exposure to LCD and electronic gaming machine screens.
  • Repetitive motions involved in operating heavy electronic gaming machine doors.

Work Environment

The role requires adaptability to shift between projects with minimal notice and the ability to respond quickly to changing demands. Overtime and weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines, and occasional travel may be required.
