Position Summary:
The Software Quality Assurance Engineer is tasked with the development and execution of testing protocols for both new and existing gaming products, ensuring adherence to functional, technical, and regulatory standards while maintaining exceptional product quality. The role involves collaboration with Game/System Development teams to promptly address any issues that arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, assess, and implement test plans and scripts for various gaming themes and systems.
- Document and monitor issues identified during testing to guarantee resolution.
- Adhere to daily Work Instructions and assist fellow SQA Engineers in their tasks.
- Compile comprehensive Completion Reports at the conclusion of each project, validating these reports for all assigned SQA Engineers.
- Coordinate with the Software Engineering Department and Product Support Engineering to resolve reported issues prior to product launch.
- Lead Integration and SQA handoff meetings.
- Establish and oversee necessary databases for SQA operations and testing.
- Manage project escalations for assigned projects.
- Guide and mentor multiple SQA Engineers across various projects.
- Review hardware requirements for projects and ensure availability.
- Provide weekly status updates for each project assigned to the team.
- Develop key relationships with upstream organizations impacting SQA, including Product Management and Game Development.
- Organize and facilitate project team meetings and reviews.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support the SQA Department on special initiatives.
- Foster connections with upstream organizations affecting SQA.
- Introduce and lead initiatives for SQA process enhancements.
- May supervise a small team of engineers.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience leading SQA teams through comprehensive test life cycles.
- Ability to derive system test plans and cases from requirements.
- Familiarity with Visual Studio.
- Academic or professional experience with C and/or C++.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and product development life cycles.
- Experience with automation is advantageous.
- Preferred background in the gaming industry.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
Experience:
- 7+ years of relevant experience in SQA.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Capability to lead and mentor multiple projects and SQA Engineers simultaneously.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Adept at providing input and solutions for project-wide issues.
- Ability to evaluate SQA Engineer performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with real-time embedded systems and/or gaming is preferred.
- Proficient in TestRails and JIRA.
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with Perl or other shell scripting languages is a plus.
- Results-oriented with strong multitasking abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequent use of LCD and Electronic Gaming Machine screens.
- Repetitive motion required for handling Electronic Gaming Machine doors.
Work Environment:
- Adaptability to shift between projects with minimal notice.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
- Occasional travel may be required.
