This role will involve travel for training purposes, with all expenses covered by the company, including flights, accommodations, and meals.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Support Specialist is responsible for assessing donor eligibility for plasma donation, managing donor reactions, reviewing laboratory results, and notifying donors of any unsuitable test outcomes. This role operates under the direct supervision of the Center Manager and the Center Physician for medical matters. Familiarity with plasma collection regulations and manufacturing environments is preferred.

Core Duties:

  • Donor Eligibility Assessment (85%)
  • Accurately determine donor eligibility in a timely manner, including informed consent management, medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing.
  • Evaluate and manage donor reactions according to established protocols.
  • Notify donors of unsuitable test results and manage donor deferrals as necessary.
  • Conduct investigations related to post-donation information.
  • Collaborate with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues.
  • Maintain competency in job responsibilities and participate in periodic assessments.
  • Environmental Health and Safety Support (5%)
  • Conduct evaluations of new hires and maintain employee medical records.
  • Administer first aid as needed and assist in training employees on safety protocols.
  • Medical History Responsibilities (10%)
  • Engage with donors during their visit, recording vital signs and other necessary measures.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid nursing license in the state of practice: RN, NP, or PA.
  • Current CPR and AED certification required.
  • Completion of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Preferred experience of at least two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer proficiency and a customer service orientation.
