About BioLife Plasma Services

This role will involve travel for training purposes, with all expenses covered by the company, including flights, rental cars, lodging, and meals. Weekend travel home may be discussed during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
The Medical Support Specialist is responsible for determining donor eligibility for plasma donation, managing donor reactions, reviewing laboratory results, and notifying donors of any unsuitable test outcomes. This role operates under the direct supervision of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and under the supervision of the Center Physician for medical matters. Familiarity with plasma collection regulations and/or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Primary Duties:
- Donor Eligibility (85%)
- Accurately assess donor eligibility in a timely manner, including informed consent management, medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing.
- Evaluate and manage donor reactions that occur at the facility, following established protocols for medical emergencies.
- Review test results and inform donors of any unsuitable outcomes as per established procedures.
- Conduct investigations related to post-donation information.
- Refer complex cases to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as necessary.
- Maintain competency in job responsibilities and complete periodic assessments with the Center Physician.
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Support (5%)
- Conduct pre-employment evaluations and maintain employee medical records.
- Administer first aid as needed and support vaccination programs for employees.
- Participate in EHS site committee activities and assist in employee training.
- Medical History Duties (10%)
- Welcome donors and perform initial health assessments, including vital signs and health questionnaires.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of practice.
- Current CPR and AED certification required.
- Completion of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency and a commitment to teamwork.
