Nuclear Medicine Specialist

Key Responsibilities- Administer and measure radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using various radioisotopes and equipment.
- Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceutical received, used, and disposed of, following physicians' prescriptions.
- Detect and map radiopharmaceutical in patients' bodies using cameras to produce photographic or computer images for physician interpretation.
- Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment, maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment, and dispose of radioactive materials.
- Prepare radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
- Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide assistance during test procedures.
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification is required.
